Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
The adventure begins early in the morning as you meet up with your fellow travelers in Arusha. After a short briefing and introduction to your guide, you’ll head out towards Tarangire National Park, a two-hour scenic drive away. As you leave the bustling town behind, the landscape transforms into rolling hills dotted with Maasai villages and acacia trees. Upon reaching Tarangire, you’ll begin your first game drive.
Tarangire National Park is known for its massive herds of elephants and ancient baobab trees that stretch across the landscape like giants from another world. The park is particularly lively during the dry season when thousands of animals migrate to the Tarangire River for water. As you drive through the park, your guide will point out elephants, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest, among other species. Bird enthusiasts will also be delighted by the hundreds of bird species that inhabit the park.
After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, you’ll head to Kizumba Campsite, located near Karatu. This simple yet comfortable campsite offers an authentic safari experience, with a chance to enjoy the starry night skies of Africa. Settle in for the evening, enjoy a delicious camp-style dinner, and exchange stories with your fellow travelers before resting for the night in your tent, falling asleep to the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
Wake up early to the sounds of nature and enjoy breakfast at the campsite before departing for your second day of exploration. Today, you’ll visit the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most incredible natural wonders. The drive from Karatu takes about an hour, offering beautiful views as you ascend the crater’s edge.
Arriving at the crater rim, you’ll be greeted with breathtaking panoramic views of the vast caldera below. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera, home to nearly 30,000 animals. Descending into the crater, you’ll begin a half-day game drive through this unique ecosystem, often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”
Within the crater, you’ll have the chance to see an astonishing variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, hyenas, and if you’re lucky, the critically endangered black rhino. The crater is also home to flamingos and other birdlife around the soda lake at its center. The dense population of animals within the crater makes for exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities, and your guide will expertly navigate the various habitats, from open savannahs to woodlands and wetlands, to help you spot as many species as possible.
As the day draws to a close, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch in the heart of the crater, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery. After your game drive, you’ll begin the journey back to Arusha, with memories of an unforgettable two days in Tanzania’s wilderness.
